Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

As part of a nationwide volunteer program, RSVP of Warren & Washington Counties invites adults age 55 and over to use their life experience and skills to answer the call of neighbors in need. Whether mentoring youth, providing emergency/disaster preparation presentations to community groups, or leadership in osteoporosis prevention classes (just three of over 50 volunteer opportunities), RSVP volunteers make their communities stronger.

Meals on Wheels Group
As a member of RSVP, you support a program that is the only clearinghouse for volunteerism in our two counties, which benefits not only those looking to volunteer, but also the organizations we serve.  Volunteerism is a very cost-effective and efficient way to provide services our communities not for profit organizations.  RSVP volunteers over the last year contributed over 27,000 hours of service to keeping our area a good and vibrant place to live – and that is another of the important things you support as an RSVP member.

Consider joining a great group of over 400 area seniors who are making a difference in their community  – RSVP of Warren & Washington Counties.

What do our work sites say about RSVP volunteers? Here are some quotes…

Queensbury Elementary School, Community Partnerships Program: “The RSVP volunteer mentors (see article in this newsletter) are making such a difference in the lives of these children – the changes are amazing. Send more!”

RSVP Volunteers:
Mary Bodnar, Katherine Ramsey, Gene Varney and Gail Varney
Washington County Fair

Muscular Dystrophy Association, Annual Lock-Up fundraiser: “The volunteers RSVP provides for each [year’s event] are integral in making the events run smoothly, and they are always the most delightful people to work with. The event was a success, pledging over$28,000. Everyone that helped out was fantastic!!” – Doug Cooper, Volunteer Coordinator

Adirondack Mountain Club: “Please tell Karen thanks so much for today’s volunteers. Even in this weather (snow) & with a delay in opening they all showed up. Thank you.” - Carol Shaw, Administrator

Prospect Child & Family Center: “WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU! I wish to extend a sincere thank you for RSVP’s support in recruiting volunteers for this year’s Festival of Trees. It’s very rewarding to know that Prospect Child & Family Center has the local community behind them, and RSVP has proven year after year to be strong supporters of the center!
Kathy Bee – Volunteer Chairperson Festival of Trees.

Warren County Tourism: “Your volunteers were awesome in getting the job done!”- Kate Johnson, Director

Hadley-Luzerne Library: “Jean Harrold is great - she keeps our Children’s Library in shape – we see the difference after Jean has been here!” – Cynthia Hedger, Director
