Greater Glens Falls Senior Citizens Center
The Greater Glens Falls Senior Citizens Center was formally opened in the Baptist Parsonage at 94 Maple Street, on May 3, 1959. By the end of the first year of operation membership had reached 188. A move to the Augustus Sherman House in 1962 provided room for the expansion of programs. Over the years various improvements have made the Center a comfortable and attractive place to pursue the goal of the Center, improving the quality of life of those 55 and older. The Sherman house is owned by the First Presbyterian Church and leased free to the Senior Center.
Outreach services came to the Center in 1976 through the Warren County Office for the Aging. Outreach offers counseling and home visits as well as assisting seniors in the Glens Falls and Queensbury area with forms and applications and problems of all kinds.
In 1983, the Center began a partnership with Liberty Letters in Saratoga to publish our newsletter Senior Spotlight, which every member receives.
